The Silverthorn Radio Club meets from 7.30 to 10.00pm on most Friday evenings.
Most members are licensed amateur operators, but there are members without licenses. Centred around amateur radio the club encompasses all areas of hobby radio and has expanded into computing.
We operate at special event locations from time to time and each summer we go 'radio camping' for a weekend, operating under the special event callsighn GB2HR and are one of the few clubs in the country to have a permanent radio shack.
The friday evening meetings consist of a series of talks, both from club members and visiting speakers on a wide range of subjects, not limited to radio (recent talks have included astronomy, a club member's experience of flying round Britain in a mircolite and an introduction to the Summits On The Air program), operating evenings, both in the radio shack and downstairs for those members who cannot get to the shack and informal, social evenings.
Come along for an introduction and welcome to the club or visit www.silverthornradioclub.org.uk for more details.
